Our curriculum this year will again include "academic
enhancement." This is a series of evening seminars on study skills, time management,
stress management and preparing academically for college golf. Daily, students will be
completing station rotations which cover every phase of the game. Topics such as fitness,
tournament preparation, course strategy, rules, equipment and psychology are also covered.
Students will also participate in competitive intramural and recreational activities.
Everyone will take home a school notebook which will include the week's written notes on
instruction, analysis of swing and equipment, and drill recommendations for future
improvement.
Coach Devon Brouse, the school's director, heads
an outstanding instructional staff consisting of other PGA professionals and college
coaches. Their expert instruction is matched only by their willingness and desire to help
junior players develop and refine their skills.
The tuition includes all room
and board, instruction, and use of the range and course. Each
student will take home a golf school shirt and hat. A non-refundable
deposit of $595 must be included with your registration form. The
balance of $595 is due May 1, 2008. We are offering the Team Incentive
again this year. If three or more members from the same team register
together for the same session, each participant will receive $200
off of their fee. The coach's name must appear on the registration
form and the form must be returned together in order to qualify for
the team incentive. Purdue University is not responsible for cost incurred
due to cancellation.
Devon
Brouse is
in his 10th year as the Director of Golf and Head Men's
and Women's Golf Coach at Purdue University. This is Coach
Brouse's 30th year as Director of the Coaches Golf School
which was formerly at North Carolina where he was the Head Men's
Golf Coach for 20 years. Coach Brouse is a class "A" PGA
member and has instructed at several golf schools.
In the summer of 1998 Coach Brouse returned to
his Alma Mater, Purdue, to coach the men's and women's golf programs and build them to
national prominence. "Purdue's dedication to their golf programs along
with the six million dollar rebuilding of the Pete Dye - designed Kampen Golf Course on
campus, is what lured me back to Purdue."
While at North Carolina,
Brouse was named District Coach of the Year in 1990-91 and 1994-95. He
coached 22 All-Americans named on 34 different occasions, and coached
3 Walker Cup members. In 2000 and 2006, Coach Brouse was named Big
Ten Women's Golf Coach of the Year. Also in 2006, Brouse was named
National Coach of the year as well as receiving the PGA Labron Harris
Award. His men's team finished seventh in 2002 NCAA and fifteenth
in 2004.
"At the Coaches Purdue Golf School, swing
fundamentals are not the only emphasis," says Coach Brouse. "We believe that
strong values and attitudes are needed for young people to grow and improve in the game of
golf." The academic enhancement seminars will help prepare our students for college
and the interaction with top coaches is an excellent preview of college golf as well as
contact for proper placement. |
